She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed volunteering and serving her community through various outreach organizations and programs. At the age of 56, she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA. She sold pine cones and worked various side jobs to finance her college education. Her nursing career began at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA. A few years later, she began working for United Hospice in Swainsboro, GA. She was one of the first locally assigned hospice nurses in Swainsboro at that time. She enjoyed helping others and spent the last several years of her life volunteering for the Kairos Prison Ministry as well as teaching Sunday School at Hillcrest and Hawhammock Baptist Church. She was adored by her grandchildren and will be remembered as a strong, generous, and loving woman, devoted to them and her whole family.
