Lauretta Jones Henry

Mrs. Lauretta Jones Henry, 98, of Vidalia passed away Tuesday morning, June 20, 2017 at Community Hospice after an extended illness.

Mrs. Henry was born May 30, 1919 in Wrightsville to the late Jimmy Jones and Bessie Harrell Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mitchell “Stumpy” Henry; sisters, Louella Boatright, Lizzie Mae Lord, Nettie Smith, Marie Hood, Bernice Hood, and Zona Gibson; brothers, Eddy Jones, P.H. Jones. Mrs. Henry was a Homemaker living most of her life in Swainsboro until moving to Vidalia three years ago. She loved reading the Bible, fishing, traveling, and being around people. Mrs. Henry especially loved her family and friends. She was a member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Gerald Henry (Marie) of Vidalia; daughter, Peggy Ross of Leesburg; brother, Clifford Jones of Varnville, SC.; sister, Virginia Blount of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Jeremy Henry (Selena) of Norman Park, Dawn Hill (Richard) of Liberty Township, Ohio, and Paul Thompson (Debbie) of Vidalia; special sons, Chan Strange, and Johnnie Rowland both of Swainsboro; 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 with Elders Mike Gray and Bill Durrence officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bythinia Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm. to 8 pm. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Robert Hood, Tommy Henry, Joey Hood, Larry Archer, Jeff Overstreet, and Chan Strange.
