Shirley Ely

            Mrs. Shirley Ely, 81, of Dellwood passed away Sunday morning, August 27, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness.

            Mrs. Ely was born April 8, 1936 in Swainsboro to the late Willis E. Glisson and Lillian Perdue Glisson. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry Nunn; brothers, Tommy Glisson, and Evans Glisson; sister, Loree Brantley.  Mrs. Ely was a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. She loved fishing, planting flowers, and especially loved her family. Mrs. Ely was a member of Holten Advent Christian Church for 20 years.

            Survivors include her husband, H.B. Ely of Swainsboro; son, Wayne Nunn of Dunwoody, and Tony Nunn (Jana) of Swainsboro; daughters, Joan Achey (Steve) of Ridgeville, S.C., June Johnson of Dellwood, Mary Ann Brantley (Morris) of Swainsboro, and Sybil Wilkerson of Swainsboro; step-son, Larry Ely (Teresa) of Swainsboro; step-daughters, Faye Hall (Donald) of Swainsboro, Deborah Hadden (Charles) of Swainsboro, Barbara Shirey (Earl) of Adrian, and Judy Jackson of Swainsboro; brother, Franklin Glisson (Jeanette) of Swainsboro; sisters, Wonnie Hutto (Duncan) of Neeses, S.C., and Toni Mooney (Steve) of New York; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

            Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 with Reverends Morris Brantley, and Arthur Conley officiating.

           Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum .

           The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home.

            Pallbearers are Jason Fields, Adam Hopkins, Jimmy Johnson, Dustin Brantley, Jimmy Brantley, Marie Wilcox, and Donald Wilcox.
