Mr. Willie Frank Allmond,96, of Canoochee passed away Sunday evening, February 4, 2018 at Emanuel County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mr. Allmond was born January 21, 1922 in Canoochee, Ga. to the late Lester Allmond and Susie Mae Ellington Allmond. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rebecca Kirby Allmond; brothers, Roy Allmond, R.L. Allmond; sister, Mabel Brown. Mr. Allmond attended Canoochee School thru the 9th grade and graduated from ECI in 1939, he also graduated from Berry College with a BS in Industrial Arts. Mr. Allmond was drafted directly out of college into the Army October 20, 1942 where he served as a rifleman and technician with the Fifth Grade Company A 6th Armored Infantry Battalion. He fought in Italy and Germany and received several medals and ribbons for his service, including the Coveted Combat Infantry Badge. When WWII ended, he returned home to the family farm, that he farmed many years and also ran Allmond Egg Farm. Mr. Allmond was a member of Twin City First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Way (Glenn) of Twin City; grand-daughters, Rebecca Joiner (Dustin), and Kathryn Horton (Rudy); great-grandsons, Logan Tapley, Luke Tapley, Evan Tapley, Cayden Horton, and Cameron Horton; special nephews, Samuel L. Brown (Kathy), and Thomas Eugene Brown both of Twin City.
Funeral Services will be at Twin City First Baptist Church 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018 with Reverend Max Rodgers officiating.
Interment will follow in the Noonday Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Twin City First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are Logan Tapley, Luke Tapley, Evan Tapley, Sam Brown, Emmitt Joiner, and Wesley Way.
