Mr. Albert Guyton β€œAl” Davis, III, 53, of Swainsboro died Thursday morning, January 26, 2012, at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Davis was a life long resident of Emanuel County.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Guyton Davis, Jr. and Charlotte Scarboro Davis.  He was a graduate of Swainsboro High School.  Mr. Davis was an EMT with Emanuel County EMS, worked with the Emanuel County Sheriff's Department for 15 years and he later became a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol for 14 years.  After retirement Mr. Davis loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, cooking and wood work.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Swainsboro.

Survivors include his wife, Roxanne Thigpen Davis of Swainsboro; sons, Albert Guyton (Becky) Davis, IV of Swainsboro and James Brandon (Sarah) Davis of Buford; brother, Roy Thomas (Tonia) Davis of Millen; grandchildren, Aceland Gray Davis of Swainsboro, Ayden Gunner Davis of Swainsboro, and Makenzie Kelley Davis of Buford; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, January 29, 2012 with Reverend Morris Brantley and Sister Ann Braswell officiating.  Burial will be in the Eastbrook Cemetery near Swainsboro.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday January 28, 2012 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be the Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard.

Honorary Pallbearers are Tommy Muns, Tyson Stephens, Dustin Watkins, Glenn Watkins, Wayne Brantley, Kenny Clark, Corbin Wiggins, Graham Lawson, Robert Watkins, Danny Scarboro, Emanuel County Law Enforcement, Members of the Georgia State Patrol, Emanuel County EMS and Swainsboro Fire Department

In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Albert Guyton Davis, III to the Emanuel County Special Olympics, The Boy Scouts of America, PO Box 160, Swainsboro, GA 30401 or The National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.

Roxanne, Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I did not know Al had health problems and was so hurt to hear of his death. We will continue to ask God to wrap His arms around each of you at this time. We cannot imagine what you are going through but we will pray for comfort and peace during this time. Roxanne, I am so sorry to hear about Al. I knew that he has been sick but did not know the how the circumstances. I trust that God will be with you and your family as you go from day to day. Our prayers are with all of you at this sad time. Just know that God will comfort you and give you peace when you need it. God Bless all of you.

So sorry for your loss. I had the priviledge of working with him for several years. He loved his family,job and friends very much. God has a great man standing with him now. Just know he will be looking out for us all.And he will no longer suffer.
