It is with profound sadness that i learned so belatedly the passing of Brother Doster. My deepest & sincere condolences to Mrs Erika and family. What a kind and generous man. I treasure the many Hymnals he donated to my book collection. I celebrate His life as I mourn his loss with all that knew and loved him!

Go rest high upon that mountain sir!

What a wonderful gift that he shared with so many. I remember singing at his piano like it was yesterday. Thank you, Mr. Doster, for the memories of 7th grade chorus, the songs I still remember and sweet friendships that will last forever.

I was so very lucky to have been in Mr. Doster's music appreciation class in the 7th grade as well as the Swainsboro Elementary Chorus and Swainsboro High School chorus under his direction. He did not just share the joy of music. He took us on journeys to different countries and different times with the different types and time periods of music he taught us. He also further nurtured my love of history by teaching us the background of some of the older pieces of music he brought to us. He could be serious and stern, but he also showed us that music could be fun . He also showed us the face of tenderness by taking a moment during each of our concerts to dedicate a song to you Mrs. Doster. Mr. Doster may be engaged with a much bigger, better, heavenly chorus at this moment, but a part of him remains here on earth.. in my memory and in my heart.

I just wanted to say that Mr. Foster has really meant a lot to me through the years as I've been out of Swainsboro; I even stayed with them for a time. Been meaning to visit Friends & family for some time now but it's not been possible . He had true character and didn't flaunt his credentials although he was on a better level than most of his contemporaries always nice & Great sense of humor & passion. Condolences

My deepest condolences, respect and prayers for the family and loved ones of Mr. Doster. I was fortunate to have been in his school chorus for several years,- what a blessing this was and has followed me through the years. Mr. Doster did indeed bring out the best in his students, he taught us well and would not let us step onto a stage or present recitals without being completely prepared, he simply would not let us be less than our best. He always had a pretty little song that he devoted to his beloved wife; this always touched my heart. We traveled, we sang with other choirs, we sang before esteemed choir directors such as Robert Shaw. He was so beloved that we called him "Daddy Doster" for that is how he led us, in a strong, disciplined guidance but always with a gentle heart. That is how he will forever remain. We have lost a wonderful man.

For me Charles Doster was so much more than a teacher and choir director. He was my guide, my mentor, my 2nd father. His influence on my life at a tender age is incalculable. He will be remembered and loved ... always.

Emanuel County has truly lost a great man. I am proud I was able to sing in his choir and use to love watching him conduct the choir at FUMC especially during the Christmas season when the choir sang the allaluha Chourus! I know he is Heaven conducting a choir of Angels singing!
