Clair R. Black

Mr. Clair R. Black, 67, of Swainsboro passed away Monday, July 22, 2019 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mr. Black was born August 2, 1951 in Homer City, PA to the late Ralph Black and Millicent Stewart Black.    He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernon Black; sisters, Virginia Parker and Norma Jean Black. 

Mr. Black grew up in Pennsylvania, one of seven children.  He was a 1976 graduate of Toccoa Falls College where he met his wife.  Mr. Black attended seminary in Regina Saskatchewan.  He served as pastor of a church in western Pennsylvania for three years.  Mr. Black did missionary work in Indonesia for 22 years, then relocated back to Swainsboro where he continued to serve his Lord until his sudden death.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth T. Black of Swainsboro; daughters, Sarah Black (Braxton) Ballew of Greenville, SC, Rebekah Black of Swainsboro, Rachel Black of Asia; ; son, Amos (Kristin) Black of Strasburg, VA; brothers, Melvin Black of Pennsylvania, George Black of California; sister, Louise Teel of California and their respective families.  Also survived by his loving family by marriage, including Doyle and Belle Tatum; Phillip, Emily, and William Tatum, Michelle Stanford with their respective families.  

Memorial Service will be Thursday, July 25, 2019 2:00 PM at Hawhammock Baptist Church.
