Daryl Harris Obituary

Mr. Daryl Charles Harris, 56, of Moultrie passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

 

Mr. Harris was born May 9, 1963 in Swainsboro to Charles Harris and Juanita Cecile Brown Harris.  He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Harris; brother, Leotis Johnson. Daryl was a quiet, gentle, sweet spirited giant among men, and he loved his mother, his fiancé, his children and his family with all his heart and soul.  He was an avid golfer.  Daryl loved football, basketball, NASCAR, track, and many other sports, which filled his days with joy.  He was a key player on the Swainsboro High School basketball team in the eighties.  His work experiences led him to work as a correctional officer in Baldwin, Jefferson, and Johnson counties.  Daryl was a member of Mt. Moriah AME Church.  He attended Antioch Baptist Church in Albany.

 

Survivors include his mother, Cecile Harris of Swainsboro; fiancé, Valarie Brown of Moultrie, sons, Christopher Harris of Augusta, Jacobi Brown, Shanon Quarterman, both of Swainsboro; daughters, Courtney Harris of McDonough, Kaylia Azariah Harris of Summertown, Arian (Altovyes) Mitchell of Albany, Chassity Brown of Moultrie, Britni Marshall of Odenton, MD;  stepfather, Horace Hall of Swainsboro; brothers, Robert Thomas, Gerald Harris, both of Swainsboro, Michael A Harris of Atlanta, Gregory (Dorothy) Hall, Tony (Tonya) Hall, Reginal Hall, all of Trenton, NJ, Keeven Holloway of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sisters,  Sheryl Harris (Dwight) Howard of Atlanta, Barbara Carlyle of Twin City, Kimberly Brown of Bernardsville, NJ, Cherica Spann of Atlanta, Angela Hall Wade of Bensalem, PA, Patricia Hall, Jackie Hall Livingston, both of Trenton, NJ, Pam (Lamont) Trappier of Willingboro, NJ,; special uncle, Archie Dukes; 12 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins;  God brothers, Derek Jackson, Cleve Howell; God sisters, Kim Jackson, Erica Jackson, Bernetta Davis;  and a host of many friends.   

 

Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 5, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at St. Philip Baptist Church with Reverend Benny Brinson officiating.

 

Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

 

The Family will receive friends Friday, October 4, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers are Dwight Pullum, Dwayne Pullum, Jahaziel Howard, Justin Harris, Kevin Samples, Quentin Dukes, Al Huston, Melvin Harris, Cleve Howell and Willie Brown.

 

Honorary pallbearers and flower bearers will be the SHS Class of 1982.
