Donald Hubert Tanner, Sr.

Mr. Donald Hubert Tanner, Sr., 65, of Kite passed away Thursday evening, June 29, 2017 at Doctors Hospital, Augusta following an extended illness.

            Mr. Tanner was born December 24, 1951 in New Home Community to the late Bennie Tanner and Mary Lizzie Garner Tanner. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy Tanner, Roy Tanner, J.W. Tanner, Mickey Tanner, and Fred Tanner; sister, Mary Ann Fanning. Mr. Tanner was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved playing cards and cooking. Mr. Tanner was a member of the local V.F.W. He was of the Baptist Faith.

            Survivors include his sons, Donald Tanner, Jr. (Stacy) of Oak Park, Tony Tanner of Adrian, and Scotty Tanner of Kite; daughter, Donna Tanner of Oak Park; brother, Cecil Tanner of Wrightsville; sisters, Betty Jackson (Ovid) of Tennile, Dorothy Claxton of Fairbanks, Alaska, Barbara Edwards of Wrightsville, Lynn Harrell (Sonny), and Judy White both of Canoochee; grandchildren, Michaela James, Michael James, Sarah Tanner, Mattie Tanner, Savannah Tanner, Kane Tanner, Ariel Tapley, Kailie Tanner, Devon Tanner, and Hailie Clements ; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

            Funeral Services will be held at Oaky Grove Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 with Reverend Jamie Toller officiating. Mr. Tanner will lie in state one hour prior to service.

           Interment will follow in the Oaky Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

           The family will receive friends from 6 pm. to 8 pm. Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home.

            Pallbearers are Bryan Tanner, Nicholas Tanner, Jamie Tanner, Glynn Tanner, Ryder Lamb, and Brian Mitchell.
