Edwin Wilson Obituary

Mr. Edwin Larry Wilson, 83, of Twin City passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mr. Wilson was born August 3, 1936 in Twin City, GA. to the late Obie Wilson and Elma Greene Wilson.  He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Sharpe Wilson; brothers, James Larsen Wilson and Donald Ray Wilson. Mr. Wilson was born at home and raised in Twin City, the soil was the roots that molded and grounded him through life to God’s land that he loved so much.  His purpose in life from 6 years old was to be the provider for his family and was his definition of himself and his life.  As a 2nd generation graduate from E.C.I., he loved his Bulldogs and football, committing a passion to the Atlanta Falcons.  He loved ccoaching youth league football when first created in Emanuel County and ran many yards up and down the sidelines with the chain crew.  Farming, gardening, building, music and recreating his family’s home were where he spent any time he had available when he wasn’t working to provide for his family.  Music was in his soul, ran through his veins to the very tips of his fingers.  He learned to play bluegrass by ear and used his talents to build his own custom mandolin, spending many hours blessing family and friends with his gift of music.  He was always excited and welcoming for others to join right in there and share their talents as well.  A history of welding, tore operator, and maintenance led to a new love in his life when he became a truck driver, seeing new sights he wanted to share with his family, loving the open road – but always returning home to spend his time making sure family was provided for.  He expanded that interest when he became owner-operator of his charter bus, happy in sharing with others.  Mr. Wilson was a member of Twin City First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Johnson (Jesse) and Sharon Sammons both of Twin City; grandchildren, Asa Jesse Larry Johnson (Jessica) and Angel Oliver (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Salena, Ashton, Cason, Braxton, Chloe, Bailey Grace; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
