Mr. Hoke Smith Rich, Jr., 86, of Swainsboro, GA. passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Rich was born July 14, 1932 to the late Hoke Smith Rich, Sr. and Adel Hooks Rich in Swainsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Rich; sisters-in-law, Hilda Rich and Mary I. Rich. Mr. Rich loved spending time at his barn with friends. He enjoyed rabbit and coon hunting, fishing and visits from his grandchildren. Mr. Rich attended the Grand American Coon Hunt every year. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Rich is survived by his wife of 67 years, Geneva M. Rich of Swainsboro; son, Hoke (Lisa) Rich III of Peachtree City; daughters, Denise R. (John G.) Claxton, Debbie J. Rich, and Brenda Akridge (Von Hadden) all of Swainsboro; brother, D.D. Rich of Swainsboro; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral Services will be in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral at 2 PM on Saturday, March 2, 2019 with Reverend Tim Price officiating.
Interment will follow at Mr. Rich’s home place.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Chapmen Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are J.W. Hooks, Jimmy Akridge, Ricky Akridge, Andy Bedgood, Darrell Wilson and Corbin Wiggins.
