James Edwards, Jr.

Mr. James Edwards, Jr.,86, of Swainsboro passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in Augusta, Georgia   following an extended illness.

           Mr. Edwards was born October 4, 1932 in Hartsville, SC to the late James Edwards, Sr and Ethel Lee Lucas Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Natalie Edwards and brother, Robert Lee Edwards.  Mr. Edwards was a retired painter.  He served in the army.  He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

           Survivors include his wife, Maeola Archie Edwards of Swainsboro; sons, Dexter Edwards of New York,  Mitchell Archie (Beth) of Atlanta, Hananza Ricks (Sherry) and Thomas DeVouil (Melissa) both of Swainsboro; brothers, Eugene Edwards (Sherry) of East Dublin, Joseph Edwards of Hartsville, SC; Sister, Linda Edwards of Hartsville, SC; mother-in-law, Leona Archie of Swainsboro;  two special grandchildren, Erica and Carolyn; Sisters-in-law, Betty Sutton, Gladys Harmon and Shelia Archie; Brothers-in-law, George (Sandra) Archie, Moses (Mary Sue) Archie, Alexander (Mary Ann) Archie, Jimmy Lee Archie, Patrick (Vanessa) Archie, Aldrich (Roma) Marion, and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends..

           Funeral services will be held at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM.

           Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

           The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday October 12, 2018 at Chapman Funeral Home.
