James Michael Farrar (Mickey) was born in Fayetteville, TN to James Halbert and Doris Lineberger Farrar on 7-16-1943. He passed away at Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro, GA after an extended illness on 1-12-19 at the age of 75.
He is survived by his loving wife Gayle; his son Michael Farrar and wife Barbara; son Jeffery Farrar; daughter Melissa and her husband Chuck Groves; and daughter Jaclyn Farrar. His grandchildren are Nicholas, Jacob, Emma and Holly; Caroline and Connor; Cody, Shelby, and Harley; Dillon; and his great grandchildren Aubree and Adaleiah.
Other surviving family members include his brother Lanny and his wife Johna Farrar; brother Dennis and his wife, Lynne; and nephews and a niece Scott Farrar, Rachel Westbrooks, and Daniel Farrar.
Mickey is also survived by Gayle’s daughter Tabbie and her husband Kyle Holder; her son Chris and his wife April Marsh; and grandchildren Hunter, Terra, MacKenzie and Maggie.
Mickey graduated from Fayetteville Central High School in 1961 and received an Associate of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Draughons College in 1963. Mickey had a career in design engineering that included jobs at the Nashville Bridge Company and other engineering firms that carried him internationally for special projects. He was also an ordained Baptist Minister and served as pastor at Middleton, Kentucky and College Grove, Tennessee. During retirement, he enjoyed bragging about his grandkids, watching westerns on TV with his bride Gayle, rooting for Tennessee football, and working at Tom’s Pawn Shop in Swainsboro.
Memorial Service will be in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2019.
The Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00a.m. Monday, January 14, 2019 at Chapman Funeral Home.
