Jimmie Amerson

Mr. Jimmie Amerson, 83, of Swainsboro passed away Monday, August 13, 2018 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.

            Mr. Amerson was born May 4, 1935 in Kite, Ga. to the late Algie B. Amerson and Maddie Price Amerson. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmie Amerson, Jr.; grandson, Joseph Allen Amerson, Jr.; sisters, Loucille Logue, Wilma Akridge, and Jackie Hadden; brothers, Byron Amerson, Lauvasia Amerson, and Charles W. Amerson. Mr. Amerson was a truck driver for Bowman Transportation for 25 years, receiving the safe driver award. He was the owner and operator of Amerson Towing. Mr. Amerson was a hardworking man who provided for his family and loved spending time with them. He nicknamed every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild each one was very special to him. Mr. Amerson enjoyed spending his days with his family and visiting with friends at Hardee’s and Waffle King. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for 28 years.

            Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lucy Amerson of Swainsboro; daughters, Carolyn Brinson (Billy) of Swainsboro and Elizabeth Way (David) Swainsboro; son, Allen Amerson (Becky) of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Mandy Lively (Billy), Brook Clements (Josh), Billy Brinson, Jr. (Mandi), Joey Amerson, Marshall Amerson, Bethany Way, and Noah Way; great-grandchildren, Maci Lively, Lenox Lively, Sydney Lively, Amelia Grace, Drake Clements, Dawson Clements, Bentley Brinson, Blakely Brinson, and Finley Brinson; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. 

            Funeral Services will be at Hillcrest Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018 with Reverends Neil Stich and Keith Claxton officiating. Mr. Amerson will lie in state one hour prior to service.

            Interment will follow at Swainsboro City Cemetery. 

            The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Chapman Funeral Home.

            Pallbearers are Johnny Amerson, Jimmy Amerson, Bill Cavannah, Gary Rowland, Steve Powell, Coleman Hall, John Wilder Page, Jack Godowns, Josh Clements, and Billy Lively.

            Honorary Pallbearers are Hardee’s Coffee Club, Greg Newsome, and Paul Pierre.
