Ms. JoAnn Wilson Douglas, 80, of Kite passed away Friday, September 13, 2019 at Chaplinwood Health & Rehab following an extended illness.
Ms. Douglas was born April 12, 1939 in Wrightsville, GA. to the late Manning Wilson and Lillie Mae Meeks Wilson Claxton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 40 years, Thetus L. “Buddy” Douglas; sister, Mary Kate Wilson Douglas. Ms. Douglas retired from Ogeechee Behavioral Health Services with over 25 years of service. She enjoyed being outside working in her yards, tending her flowers, and helping her husband with farming. Ms. Douglas was a member of Corinth United Methodist Church and attended Sardis Primitive Baptist Church later in life with her husband and daughters.
Survivors include her daughters, Joanna Douglas Harrison (William) of Kite, and Leahdonna Douglas of Milledgeville; sister, Leahdora Wilson Powell of Meeks. 4 nephews, several great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be Monday, September 16, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church with Reverend Burton Dixon officiating. Ms. Douglas will lie in state one hour prior to service.
Interment will follow in the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
The Family will receive friends Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Todd Fortner, Mike Harrison, Trojan Harrison, Darrell Wilson, James Wilson and Michael Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
