Mrs. Joanne Jones Youmans, a resident of Sylva, N.C., went to her Heavenly home on Monday, June 4, 2018, following a period of declining health. Joanne was born in Metter, Ga, on July 11, 1932. She was the only daughter of Bertha Rogers Jones Fine and Michael Otis Jones, of Metter, Ga. Joanne graduated from Metter High School, and then went on to the University of Ga, and Georgia Southern University. Joanne married Henry Brantley Youmans in 1957 and was a loving mother to David and John.
Joanne was a homemaker most of her life, and she loved her family well. She enjoyed attending Webster Baptist Church and enjoyed her friends in the Joy Class. She loved playing games with her grandchildren, listening to country music, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting or other school events. She loved big family gatherings and playing scrabble.
Joanne is survived by her son David, of Sylva, and his wife Tamme, and children, Jordan (Jonathan) Parsons, Ian (Kelsea) Youmans, Devan (Micah) Carter, and Lynsey Youmans, her son John and his wife Michele, children Stephanie, Michael and Brandon, and two great-grandchildren, Micah and Kade. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Brantley Youmans.
Funeral Services will be at the Lake Primitive Baptist Church 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018 with Mr. Eddie Jones officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lake Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Lake Primitive Baptist Church.
