Mrs. Neva D. "Susie" Akridge,64, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Candler following an extended illness.
Mrs. Akridge was born August 9, 1954 in Reidsville, Ga. to the late R.E. “Red” Durden and Oletta Kersey Durden. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sherry Durden, step-sister Gail Williams, brother, Smutty Durden step-brothers, Aubrey Wilds, Larry Wilds. Mrs. Akridge grew up in Aline and moved to Emanuel County in 1975. She was an LPN, loved to travel, and loved to go shopping. Mrs. Akridge loved her family very much and kept her family together. During her nursing career she worked as an OB and Delivery Nurse at Emanuel Medical Center and was a nurse at Emanuel County Schools.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Ralph Akridge of Swainsboro; daughters; Donya Radford (Steve Hyde) of Swainsboro, Autumn Allen (Kenneth) of Sardis, Gail Turner (Rollie) of Summertown, Doris Colston (Joe) of Bartow, Susan Akridge (David) of Wrightsville; sons; Albert Gay (Johanna) of Swainsboro, Jay Gay (Roxanne) of Norristown, Charles Akridge (Ellen) of Swainsboro, Dennis Akridge of Norristown, David Akridge (Betsy Wetzel) of Stillmore; brother; William “Bill” Collins (Sherri); 34 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 with Rev. Tim Price and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Aline Ga.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday October 9, 2018 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Charles Akridge, David Akridge, Phillip Akridge, Clint Akridge, Austin Farrow, Wesley Farrow, Gatlin Farrow, Brandon Gay, Bryan Akridge.
