Ms. Opal Fails, 71, of Swainsboro passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at University Hospital in Augusta following an extended illness.
Ms. Fails was born September 26, 1948 in Savannah to the late Rufus Fails and Jewell Turner Fails. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard Scott; brother, Ronnie Fails; sister, Sue Cobb; stepsons, Billy Scott and Randy Scott; stepdaughters, Debbie Walker and Libby Hanson. She was a dietician at Emanuel Medical Center for several years. Ms. Fails loved Christmas, NASCAR, football, music and watching soap operas. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with her grandchildren. Ms. Fails was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons; Brent (Patricia) Fails of Swainsboro, Grady (Lacey) Scott of Canoochee; daughters, Kelly Scott, Brandi (Binh) Phan, both of Swainsboro; stepson, Marty Scott of Swainsboro; brothers, Wayne (Jodale) Fails of Greenville, SC, Gary Fails of Augusta; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be Friday, January 17, 2020 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Kennison and Pastor Cameron Kennison officiating.
Entombment will follow in Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 17, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Alton Henry, Sammy Newsome, Chris Cobb, Jason Scott, Robert Fails, Cameron Kennison and Luke Scott.
