Roy Gene Hopkins

Mr. Roy Gene Hopkins, 71, of Kite passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Lakeside Retirement Home following an extended illness.

            Mr. Hopkins was born August 28, 1946 in Swainsboro, Ga. to Charlie Morris Hopkins, Sr. and Maybelle Stapleton Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jody Troy Hopkins; sisters, Loree Hopkins Kight, Ruby Hopkins Garnto; brothers, Johnny Hopkins, Albert Hopkins, Lamar Hopkins, Charlie Morris Hopkins, Jr. Mr. Hopkins worked in construction all of his life. He enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family. Mr. Hopkins was of the Baptist Faith.

            Survivors include his daughter, Joni Hopkins McDaniel (Gary) of Soperton; son, Jeremy Hopkins (Frances) of Kite; sister, Shirley Hopkins Hollis of Enigma, Ga.; brother, Edward Hopkins (Trannie) of Swainsboro; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

            Funeral Services will be in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25 , 2018 with Reverends Morris Brantley and Arthur Conley officiating.

           Interment will follow in the Minton Chapel Advent Church Cemetery.

           The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Chapman funeral Home.

            Pallbearers are Nathan McDaniel, Charles Akridge, Cody Hopkins, Gary Lindsey, Matt Murry, and Terrance Sellars.
