Mrs. Shelba J. Wilkes, 77, of Swainsboro passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Emanuel County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Wilkes was born February 6, 1941 in Adrian, Ga. to the late George Page and Mary Lee Bush Page. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael E. Wilkes; sisters, Bessie Jackson Branson, and Myrtle R. Spence. Mrs. Wilkes was a 1958 graduate of Adrian High School, was a seamstress, and she operated a daycare out of her house for years. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, singing, baking, and spending time with all her family. Mrs. Wilkes was a member of Mt. Shady Baptist Church and a member of the Order of The Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Walton E. “Gene” Wilkes of Swainsboro; daughters, Tracy Wilkes Hackle, and Dana Page Wright (Dave) both of Swainsboro; brothers, James Page (Mary) of Cumming, Ga., Wayne Page (Catherine) of Metter, Ralph Page (Sue) of Adrian, Steve Page (Janet) of Swainsboro, and Mack Page (Mary) of Greenfield, MO.; sisters, Lela Spence, Lavon Woods, Della Holt, and Dawn Larkin all of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Adam Hackle, Jesse Hackle (Ashley), Christian Hackle (Kalie), Nathan Hackle, Michael E. Wilkes, II, Shaina A. Edwards (Daryl), Kaitlyn Wright (Dylan), Leanne Wright, and Abby Wright; great-grandchildren, Ethan Hackle, Evie Hackle, Shelby Edwards, Isaac Edwards, and Aiden Wright; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be at Mt. Shady Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 with Reverends Earl Warnock, and Rusty Moore officiating. Mrs. Wilkes will lie in state one hour prior to service.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Shady Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Jeremy Page, Jason Page, Ashley Page, Jess Bush, Chance Morris, and Stan Wilkes.
