Sherrill Wendell Motes

Mr. Sherrill Wendell Motes, 71, of Metter passed away Thursday evening, June 15, 2017 at Ogeechee Area Hospice.

            Mr. Motes was born September 2, 1945 in Metter, Ga. to the late C. Turner Motes and Rubye Adams Motes. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Motes enjoyed his time on his John Deer Lawn Mower. He loved his family especially his grandchildren. Mr. Motes and his wife attended festivals all over selling cheese straws, with the Yellow Daisey Festival in Stone Mountain, Ga. being his favorite. He attended Metter Primitive Baptist Church, and New Beginnings In Christ.

            Survivors include his wife, Marie T. Motes of Metter; son, Wendell (Pam) Motes of Metter; daughter, Sherri (Robbie) Dollar of Metter; brothers, Durward (Jean) Motes of Garden City, Ramon (Ann) Motes of Newnan, and Jalvis (Gail) Motes of Metter; sister, Marilyn Glisson of Metter; grandchildren, Taylor, Grace, Maggie, Walker, Anna, and Mary; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

            Funeral Services will be held at the Metter Primitive Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 with Elder Mike Newman and Rev. Nick Johnson officiating. Mr. Motes will lie in state one hour prior to service.

           Interment will follow in the Upper Lotts Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm. to 7 pm. Friday, June 16, 2017 at Metter Primitive Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are Jamey Motes, Bubba Bird, Heath Kemp, Rob Bowen, Jeffrey Motes, and Terry Liles.

Honorary Pallbearers are the men of New Beginnings In Christ.
