Zoie Mildred Brewer Obituary

Mrs. Zoie Mildred Brewer, 88, of Twin City passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Emanuel County Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Brewer was born August 26, 1931 in Offerman to the late Lewis Jeffrey Barnard and Zoie Strickland Barnard.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Edwin Brewer, Jr.; son, Jesse Edwin Brewer, III; brothers; Thomas Barnard, L.J. Barnard, McKinley Barnard; sisters, Beatrice Crosby, Jewell Hardy; grandson, David King. She was first a woman of God, loving, supportive wife and mother, a trusted employee, and a loyal friend.  She loved to give.  Mrs. Brewer supported numerous Christian organizations, made and gave hats to cancer patients, and sewed bibs and lap blankets for the nursing home.  She loved her church and served as a teacher and piano player for many years.  Mrs. Brewer retired from Durden Banking Company having worked through the ranks of bookkeeper to Vice President.  She was a charter member and president of the Pilot Club and elected Businesswoman of the Year in Georgia. She was an accomplished businesswoman, but that is not what people say about her.  They say, “I loved her smile”, “She was so sweet”, “She loved the Lord”.  Mrs. Brewer was truly a virtuous woman and her “children will rise up and call her blessed”.  She was a member of Hawhammock Baptist Church for over 20 years.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey (Connie) Brewer of Swainsboro; daughters, Mary Ann (Robert) Hunsicker of Springdale, AR, Teresa (Dennis) King of Porterdale, Annette (Warren) Reed of Savannah; brother, Monroe (Betty) Barnard of Orlando, FL; sister, Earnestine Dixon of Offerman; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 7, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Hawhammock Baptist Church with Reverend Cail Pressey and Chaplain Franklin Sasser officiating.

Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum with Reverend Fred Dunn officiating.

The Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Hawhammock Baptist Church.
