Otis Lee Williams, Jr.

April 1, 1938 — February 6, 2021

Mr. Otis Lee Williams, Jr., 82, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Emanuel Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Williams was born April 1, 1938 in Canoochee to the late Otis L. Williams, Sr. and Twillie Walker Pierce.   He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Telda Tina Corley; sons, Henry Chance and Jimmy Fann. Mr. Williams was a member at Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful member unto his transition.  He received his GED from the Emanuel County Public Schools and obtained his commercial driver’s license which enabled him to driver trucks for over 65 years.  His last job was driving a cement truck for Twin City Cement Company.  Mr. Williams was a friend to many, an avid fisherman and hunter.  One could also consider him to be a mechanic.  He liked purchasing old police cars and fixing them up.  He transitioned on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 6:00 a.m. from the Emanuel Medical Center following a battle with State 3 bladder cancer.  Over fifty years ago, he met Ms. Lovie Mae Phillips-Riddles and they were together until her death in 2018.  He served on the Usher’s Ministry at the Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church until death.

Survivors include his sons, Deacon John E. Parker, Charlie Clark, Herbert Artis, all of Swainsboro, Herman (Martha) Murphy of Maryland, Michael E. Parker of Fairburn, Jermaine Jackson, Andre’ Jackson, both of Canoochee, Charles Riddles of Florida; daughter, Cherry Ann Sweet of Augusta; devoted cousin/surrogate sister, Mamie W. Pierce of Swainsboro; uncle, Fletcher (Sadie) Nobles of Swainsboro; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Swainsboro City Auditorium with Reverends Jerry Armstrong and Melvin Adams, Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Home.

In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during visitation and service.
