Mrs. Thelma Kidd Buxton, 81, of Kite was called to Glory Tuesday, March 08, 2011.
Mrs. Buxton was born in Pineknot, KY and had lived in Kite for 34 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Nannie Marlena Brown Kidd; brothers, Leman Kidd, Herman Kidd, Hobert Kidd, and Daryl Kidd.
Mrs. Buxton was a homemaker who devoted her life to taking care of her family. She loved Gospel Music and traveled many years with her family The Buxtons, while she encouraged them to spread God’s word in song.
Mrs. Buxton was a member of the Kite Church of God, a Christian, Choir Director, and Sunday School Teacher. She had taught Sunday School for over 50 years.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, J. C. Buxton; daughter, Regina (George) Archer, Twin City; sons, Michael (Ann) Buxton, Kite, Randy (Mary Jo) Buxton, Kite, and Freddie (Penny) Buxton, Oak Park; sister, Martha (David) Collins, Wartburg, TN; brother, Joe Kidd, Dayton, OH; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in the Kite Church of God at 11 o’clock Friday morning, March 11, with the Reverends Allen Meeks and Earl Warnock officiating. Burial will follow in the Kite City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10 at Chapman Funeral Home, Swainsboro.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mike Buxton, John Buxton, Aaron Buxton, Ashley Claxton, Andrew Claxton, and Jesse Tapley.
