Ada (Sapp) Burke

Mrs. Ada Sapp Burke, 85, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Pruitt Health Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Burke was born March 18, 1936, in Metter to the late Cecil Johnson and Idella Sapp. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benjamin F. Burke, Sr.; sons, Willie Lee Burke, Benjamin F. Burke, Jr.; Earlie Burke; daughters, Rosa Lee Young, Betty Ann Burke; grandson, William “Rah Rah” Strange; brothers, James Sapp, Bill Sapp; sisters, Annie Ruth Sapp, Ida Bullard, Lillie Sapp, Mattie Pearl Mansfield. She was a life-long native of Emanuel County, where she attended the Public School System. Mrs. Burke was a homemaker and a member of Rountree Grove Baptist Church and served faithfully for over 40 years.

Survivors include her sons, Jim F. Burke and Roosevelt Burke, both of Metter, Robert L. Burke of Swainsboro; daughters, Shirley Burke of Raeford, NC, Lillie (Rickey) Jenkins and Rebecca Burke, both of Metter, Leonia (Thomas) Pierce of Millen, Regina (John) Hughes of Swainsboro, Rutha Williams of Warner Robins; sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Nelson of Miami, FL; brother-in-law, Buck Wiggins of Plainville, NJ; special nieces, Betty Robinson and Doris Randall; 46 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Rountree Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jonathan Hampton presiding.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Alonzo Burke, Stephen Burke, Mark Burke, William Brown, Markell Burke, and Ricky Greene.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Burke, Darius Burke, Perry Burke, Timothy Burke, Dewayne Pierce, Brandon Burke, and Cleveland Scott.
