Adine Shipman

Ms. Adine Shipman, 79, of Swainsboro passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.

Ms. Shipman was born March 20, 1940 in Metter to the late James Shipman and Tera Campbell Shipman.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Meade Phillips; stepdaughter; sister, Julia Bell Shipman King; brothers, Marvin Shipman, Charlie Givens, James Givens, Sylvester Givens, and Elmore J. Wilson.  Ms. Shipman was a talkative, resourceful and determined woman who knew how to get what she wanted in life.  She loved Jesus, her children and her grandchildren. Ms. Shipman enjoyed life and keeping company with family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Alexander James Shipman of Swainsboro, Terry Shipman of Dublin; brothers, Tommy (Shelia) Givens, Billy (Jimmie Nell) Givens, both of Swainsboro, Matthew (Jeanette) Givens of Norristown; sisters, Dorothy Wicker and Tuesday (Kenny) Bynes, both of Swainsboro, Donnel Givens Cross of Douglas; grandchildren, Alexander (Wyketa) Shipman, Valoria (Lawrence) Armstrong, Deanna (Lucious) Brown, Ricardo Jermaine Carlyle, Anthony Bostic, Tariya Shipman, Brandy Shipman; 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019 with Reverends Johnny Ray Jones, Alex M. Shipman, Pastor Mildred Phillips, and Elder James Blair officiating.

Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 28, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Matthew Givens, Christopher Givens, John Kenny Bynes, Jamilla Jenkins, Jacoda Shipman, Jadon George, Billy Givens and Russell Givens
