Mr. Algie L. “Al” Boatright, 74, of Swainsboro died Friday evening, August 16, 2013 at the Emanuel Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Boatright was born in Swainsboro and a life long residence of Emanuel County.  He was preceded in death by his parents Jake Curl and Nandora Boatright Curl Kemp; stepfather, Luther Kemp; adopted parents, Edward Boatright and Carolyn Curl Boatright; wife of 50 years, Margie Boatright; daughter, Kim Boatright Holden; granddaughter, Renee Boatright; brother, John Edward Boatright.  Mr. Boatright retired from the Georgia Department of Transport where he worked as a heavy machinery mechanic.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheila Boatright of Swainsboro; grandson, Brian Holden of Swainsboro; great grandsons, Gabriel L. Boatright of Swainsboro and Brian and Brandon Holden both of Swainsboro; sister, Leta Hadden of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Sunday, August 18, 2013 with Reverends Earl Warnock and Ronnie Youngblood officiating.  Burial will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday August 17, 2013 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Tom Hall, Chris Drake, Joey Crapps, Tommy Hadden, Johnny Hadden and Kendall Hadden.
