Mrs. Allene Stephens Brown, 90, of Swainsboro went to live with Jesus Wednesday, March 21, 2012 A.D. at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Brown was born in Adrian GA and a life long residence of Emanuel Co. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Alexander Stephens and Mary Elizabeth Douglas Stephens; husband of 62 years, Harley Daniel Brown, Jr.
Mrs. Brown was a charter member of the United Primitive Baptist Church in Swainsboro and a charter member of the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Swainsboro where she was the pianist, she also taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and the treasurer for the Lady’s Circle. Mrs. Brown was well known for her delicious home cooking. Her favorite bible verse was Isaiah 53:5 and favorite song was Because He Lives. She retired as office manager and book keeper with Brown and Gay Oil Co.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Brown Freeman of Statesboro; one granddaughter, Shannon Elizabeth Freeman Killebrew of Statesboro; 3 sisters, Cubia Stephens Dasher of Augusta, Edna Stephens Gay and Doris Stephens Jones both of Swainsboro; one sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Brown Cooper of Wadley; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Friday, afternoon March 23, 2012 with Elders Tommy Rountree, Gary Johnson and Dr. William Amponsah officiating. Interment will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Yanochik, Mark Hanna, Charles Harter, David Shepherd, Jake Simons, Godfrey Gibbison.
