Alma L. Newsome

Ms. Alma L. Newsome, 76, of Swainsboro passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at her residence following a brief illness.

Ms. Newsome was born July 13, 1943 in Vidalia, GA. to the late Charlie Paul Barwick and Lurene McDaniel Barwick Davis.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Lynwood Newsome; stepfather, John Davis; brothers, Billy Barwick, Charlie Paul Barwick; sisters, Drunelle Lindsey, Amy Barwick.  Ms. Newsome loved reading her bible, listening to Jimmy Swaggart and spending time with her family. She also loved going camping and riding in a pontoon boat.  Ms. Newsome was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Terry (Janet) Youngblood, J. C. (Estine) Youngblood, both of Baxley; daughter, Melinda Futch of Swainsboro; brother, Marvin (Debbie) Davis of Vidalia; sisters, Ella Mae Fryburger (Jack Marsh) of Augusta, Mackie Lawrence, Cheryl B. (Glen) Waters, both of Vidalia; 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, September 8, 2019, 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Bedgood officiating.

Interment will follow in the Blundale Baptist Church cemetery.

The Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Leon Barwick, B. J. Barwick, Ronnie Newsome, Chris Newsome, Mickey Lindsey and Billy Joe Barwick.
