Annelle Page Norris

Annelle Page Norris died Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Scott Health and Rehabilitation in Johnson County Georgia. Born on September 6, 1944 in Emanuel County to the late Burley and Annie Ruth Fortner Page, Annelle was a graduate of Swainsboro High School Class of 1962. She attended Brewton Parker College.

She married the love of her life, James Harmon Norris, Sr on April 15, 1966. He predeceased her in 2018 after they celebrated 52 years of marriage. She and Harmon began their married life in Kite. Annelle’s love of people, positive attitude, and contagious happiness made her a perfect bank teller. She worked at the Central Bank for many years. Harmon and Annelle moved to the Atlanta area around 1976. They lived in Tucker, Rome, and Hogansville before returning to Swainsboro in 1993.

Annelle enjoyed being a homemaker and mother to her two children Karmon and James. She was a great cook. Her potato salad was delicious, probably because she used her special sweet pickles made with love during a time-consuming, three-day process. She also perfected a chicken and dumpling recipe using flour tortillas. After attending the bridesmaid luncheon of her future sister-in-law, Annelle enjoyed making and gifting ceramic bears along with the “Happy Marriage Bears” story to numerous brides. With her gifts, she established a family tradition that continues today.

Annelle was a devout Christian and a member of Minton Chapel Advent Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess until her health declined. She planned, prepared, and served many meals for visiting preachers during Revival Services and encouraged others to do the same. Most importantly, she spread God’s love to others with her sweet smile, her sense of humor, and her gentle spirit.

After returning to Swainsboro, she worked as an administrative assistant at Swainsboro Middle School and retired on September 11, 2011. She also joined the Kite Homemakers Club and thoroughly enjoyed each and every meeting. A few years before her return to Swainsboro, she joined the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution through the military service of her ancestor, John Webb and the Emanuel Rangers Chapter No. 2318, United Daughters of the Confederacy through the service of William Preston Williams.

Annelle is survived by her children Karmon Cain (Michael) of Monroe and James (Tori) Norris of Kite. Grandchildren: Emily Cain, Keith Cain and twins Jessi and Jami Norris. A brother, Burley (Connie) Page of Kite. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by sister Gayle Page Strickland Elkes of Ocala, Florida and a special aunt, Sally Page Rivers.

Her funeral service will be held at Minton Chapel Advent Christian Church on Sunday, January 11, at 3:00 p.m. with visitation an hour and half prior to the service. Interment to follow in church cemetery.
