Mrs. Annette Overstreet Lindsey, 89, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Southern Manor in Statesboro, GA surrounded by her family.
Annette was born on October 20, 1936, in the Dellwood community of Emanuel County to the late Elijah Lee Overstreet & Emma Lee Scott Overstreet. Annette and her younger sister, Kathleen, grew up learning the values of hard work and discipline by helping in their parent’s general store in Dellwood. Shortly after graduating from Swainsboro High School in 1954, she met the love of her life, Bobby Franklin Lindsey, from Kite. Annette and Bobby were married on May 12, 1957 and shared more than 50 years together until Bobby’s passing in 2008.
Mrs. Annette loved being outdoors and spending time in her yard, either tending to her many flowers or simply watching birds. She enjoyed keeping her property up and it was always in immaculate condition. She was famous for her pound cakes and loved being able to cook for her family. Annette devoted more than forty years of service as a bank teller to Citizens Bank of Swainsboro and Spivey State Bank. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Methodist Church in Swainsboro, GA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Franklin Lindsey, and a sister, Kathleen Lee.
Survivors include her two sons, Steve Lindsey (Kathy) of Macon, Ga., Bill (Sharri) Lindsey of Statesboro, Ga.; three grandchildren, Matt (Molly) Lindsey, Zach (Cady) Lindsey, and Mary Katherine (Ty) Whitaker, great-grandchildren, Weston Whitaker, Jackson Whitaker, Kooper Whitaker, Ada Lindsey, Anderly Lindsey, and Caden Lindsey, a sister-in-law, Jackie Lindsey, and several cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026 in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Tidwell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.
Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Matt Lindsey, Zach Lindsey, Ty Whitaker, Douglas Overstreet, Jeff Overstreet, and Tim Garrett.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Calvary Methodist Church, 421 S Main St, Swainsboro, GA 30401.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Southern Manor Senior Living and Georgia Hospice for the loving, compassionate care provided to Annette. The family also wishes to thank the caregivers who made it possible for Annette to remain in her home for as long as possible: Judy Walters, Shannon Givens, Tracey Watson, Tarnea Brown, and Tameka Freeman.
