April Dawn Woods Whitehead

Mrs. April Dawn Woods Whitehead, 50, of Garfield passed away Monday, November 2, 2026, at Emory University in Atlanta. She was born on July 18, 1976, to Eddie Ray Woods and Kathy Johnson Woods.

April was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She especially cherished her two precious grandsons, Chipper and Hudson, who were the light of her life. Being their “Appie” was one of her greatest blessings, and she treasured every moment she spent with them.

She had a love for life and was always ready for her next adventure. Whether it was a family trip to the mountains, setting sail on a cruise, or simply getting everyone together for a day out, she was happiest when she was on the go and surrounded by the people she loved. She never needed a special occasion to make memories. To her, every moment spent with family was something worth celebrating.

April had a way of making even the simplest moments special. Her love for her family was endless, and the memories she created with them will forever be treasured. Although her time here on earth was far too short, the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the memories she made will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Above all, she will be remembered for the love she had for her family, especially her beloved grandbabies, and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Whitehead, maternal grandparents, James and Ruby Johnson; and paternal grandparents, George and Charlene Woods.

April is survived by her children, Railey (Hunter) Bragg of Thomson, Chase (Marissa) Whitehead, and Chailey Whitehead, both of Garfield; her grandchildren, Chipper Bragg and Hudson Bragg; her parents, Kathy and Eddie Woods of Twin City; her sisters, Crystal (Mitch) Flakes of Garfield, and Jami Woods of Twin City; nephew, Tyler Flakes (Alisha); niece, Taylor Rae Flakes; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2026, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Hardin officiating.

Interment will be in Hebron Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Garfield.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to services.

Pallbearers are Kevin Edenfield, Eric Woods, Gavin Edenfield, Bailey Sause, Kade Johnson, and Dane Arrington.
