Atelia "Tillie" Idez (Sweat) Hopkins

Mrs. Atelia "Tillie" Idez Sweat Hopkins, 83, of Swainsboro passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Hopkins was born November 10, 1934 in Soperton to the late Harry M. and Agnes Baldwin Sweat. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Delmas Sweat, Vernon Sweat and Harry Gene Sweat.

She lived out her principles of faith in God, love of family and service to others daily. Mrs. Hopkins was dedicated to serving the Lord at Hillcrest Baptist Church as a teacher and leader for many years where she impacted many lives. Mrs. Hopkins worked at the Emanuel County Health Department until retirement.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Elmo Hopkins of Swainsboro; sons; Ronnie E. (Carmen) Hopkins and Kelvin L. Hopkins of Swainsboro, Donnie G. (Maria) Hopkins of Sebring, Florida. grandchildren; Chris (Marilyn) Hopkins, Beth (Tadd) Wiggins, Sheyna (Josh) Faulkner, Jessica Hopkins, Erika (Cody) Blackmon, Gennie (Steven) Woodard, Maura (Tommy) Braddock, and Margaret Anne Garrett; 10 great-grandchildren; Jaxson and Lawton Wiggins, Banks and Luke Hopkins, Kaitlann Faulkner, Carter Hayes, Kyler Blackmon, Hayden and Ranford Case Rickey, Grace Lynn Braddock, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Memorial Service will be in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 1 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 with Reverends Mark Sweat and Jim Harrell officiating.

Interment will be in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Soperton, Ga.

The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home Saturday, October 27, 2018.
