Mrs. Barbara Ann Redding Meeks, 81, of Swainsboro passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Emanuel County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Meeks was born July 29, 1940, in Twin City to William Otis “W. O.” Redding and Edna Mae Reynolds Redding. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve Meeks, Jr.; and a special son-in-law, Mike Bush; brother, William Otis “Bill” Redding, Jr.; sisters, Lila Jeanette Redding Seckinger (Lannie), Willa Ree Redding Tomlinson; and her best friend, Ellen Edge Pitts.
Mrs. Meeks attended Emanuel County Institute and grew up in the Twin City United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and made the best sweet pickles, but her greatest love was her family and friends. She considered her colleagues at Delores & Woody’s and Walmart as family. Her most beloved hobby was following her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews around for singing performances, dance recitals, gymnastics competitions, and ball games.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Paul “Kenny” Meeks (Kellie) of Swainsboro; daughters, Sharon Wren Bush and Stefanie Meeks Mason (Tim), all of Swainsboro; sister, Katie Redding Raley of Dothan, AL; grandchildren, Shannon Bush (Renee), Brannon Bush (Amanda), Whitney Bush, Gray Mendieta (Kelli), Wess Mason (Mary), Calissa Mason, Emma Mason, and Kenlie Meeks; 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends and her sweet puppy Bella.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Twin City First United Methodist Church with Reverend Randall Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Coleman Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Twin City First United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Bush, Brannon Bush, Gray Mendieta, Wess Mason, Shaun Bush, Josh Bush, Shann Bush, and Lake Bush.
