Mrs. Barbara Lanier Stephens, 75, of Swainsboro passed away, Sunday, March 1, 2026, at her residence. She was born on September 14, 1950, in Twin City to the late Doyle Tyson Lanier, Sr. and Dorothy Allene Neal Lanier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tyson Lanier; sister, Shirley Chance.
Barbara was a part of the class of 1968 from Metter High School. She was also a hard and dedicated worker as she worked at Citizen's Bank of Swainsboro for 18 years, until retirement. She was a faithful Christian as she was a member of Baptist Rest Primitive Baptist Church since her teenage years.
Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed watching westerns and eating hot fudge sundaes. She was always the happiest when all her family were together. She loved flowers, red roses were her favorite.
Survivors include her daughter, Joni Jones of Swainsboro; 1 granddaughter, Faith Jones of Swainsboro, husband, Donnie Stephens of Swainsboro; sisters, Becky Powell of Twin City, Debbie Singletary (Dwight) of Swainsboro, Donna Scott (Johnny) of Twin City; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Harrell officiating.
Interment will follow at Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Metter.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Scott, Dwight Singletary, Ashley L. Powell, Nathan Singletary, Jonathan Scott, Logan Creamer and Allen Lanier.
