Barbara Lynn R Shannon, 62, went to be with our Heavenly father April 19, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Greenville, SC to Mrs. Bobbie J Ellis and the late Thomas L Raushenberger, January 29, 1952. She graduated in 1970 from Berea High School in Greenville before moving to Lexington where she began her endeavors managing the SADISCO salvage yard, which lead her to owning her own business, Ms.Fixit Title Consultants, before working at Horace Mann insurance company after which she retired. She was part of Who’s who of South Carolina.
Family and friends were Lynn’s passion and delight. She was known to many of the kids’ friends as “Momma Lynn” and the “cool mom” of the neighborhood. Once the grandkids came along she became “Nana”, a name she wore with pride. She took joy in working with her hands making gifts from the heart. There are many “Original by Lynn Shannon” quilts and afghans floating amongst family and friends. She is also known for her famous fruitcake, biscuits, Sunday dinners and quick wit.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband David Shannon, children Thomas (Mary Beth) Smith, Amy (Chris) Netherton, Brad (Kim) Shannon, Katie (Larry) Fowler; siblings Bruce (Sherry) Raushenberger, Scott (Tammie) Raushenberger, Mike (Linda) Raushenberger; grandchildren Timothy Shannon, Alexandra and Lilianna Smith, Sam and Eli Fowler, Kael Shannon; extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Thomas L Raushenberger and Aunt Sara J Ridley.
Memorial services will be held April 26, 2014 afternoon at 1:00 pm at Round Hill Baptist Church, 230 Persimmon Lane, Lexington, SC. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family immediately following the service in the multi-purpose building.
