Benny Earl Williamson

Mr. Benny Earl Williamson passed peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at The Oaks at Bethany Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in Vidalia following an extended illness.

Benny Earl was born August 8, 1950, in Millen to the late William Dover Williamson and the late Mildred Sherrod Williamson.  Benny was a graduate of Swainsboro High School and a veteran of the United States Army.

Benny is survived by his sisters, Helen Irby and Martha Sumner, both of Grand Blanc, MI.  Other survivors include stepchildren, Wendy Suggs Greene (Junior) of Harlem and Becky Brown (Lawson) of Midville, many cousins, nieces, nephews, several step grandchildren and many friends.

Benny is predeceased by his parents; his wife of 43 years, Helen Canady Williamson; his son, Benny Earl Williamson, Jr. “BJ” of Aiken, SC; brother, William Dover Williamson, II of Vidalia; brother, Mark Williamson of Louisville; sister, Mildred “Sue” Canady of Midville; brother-in-law, Bill Irby of Grand Blanc, MI; sister-in-law, Melvadean Williamson of Vidalia; and nephew, Andrew Irby of Hickory, NC.

The family will receive friends at Chapman Funeral Home in Swainsboro on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Aiken Equine Rescue, 532 Glenwood Drive, Aiken, SC  29803.
