Mrs. Betty J. Derriso, 70, of Swainsboro died Saturday, March 19, 2011 in East Georgia Regional Medical, Statesboro following an extended illness.
Mrs. Derriso was born in Treutlen County and was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Rona Lee Hutcheson Clifton. She was Manager of Burger King in Swainsboro before retiring and was a member of Swainsboro Freewill Baptist Church for 32 years.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Derriso; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny E. Wood, Sr., Swainsboro, Tony and Connie Derriso, Forsyth, Dallas and Sandy Derriso, Swainsboro, and Dale and Becky Derriso, Swainsboro; daughter, Tammy Stetson, Lincoln, Nebraska; brother, Charles Clifton, Savannah; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in Hebron Baptist Church, Swainsboro at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, March 22, with the Reverends Ervin Stapleton and Luther Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Derriso will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 21 at Chapman Funeral Home, Swainsboro.
Pallbearers will be Earl Shirey, David Shirey, Johnny E. Wood Jr., Rod Folds, Steve Waters and James Owens.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of Hebron Baptist Church, Swainsboro.
