Mrs. Betty L. Vaughn,81, of Swainsboro passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 22, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Vaughn was born March 2, 1935 in Savannah, Ga. to the late Ralph Bessent and Pearl Waters Bessent. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James A. Vaughn, Jr. Mrs. Vaughn loved fishing, cooking, and singing for everyone. Her Family was her main Priority. Mrs. Vaughn was of the Protestant Faith.
Survivors include her sons, Virgil Alan Clanton of Swainsboro, Timothy E. (Cindy) Vaughn, and David E. (Sherry) Vaughn both of Jacksonville, FL.; daughter, Jewel Y. (Timmy) Collins of Swainsboro; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Union Primitive Baptist Church 2p.m. Saturday afternoon, March 25, 2017 with Elder Sam Bowen officiating. Mrs. Vaughn will lie in state one hour prior to service.
Interment will follow in the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7p.m. Friday afternoon, March 24, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Bobby Vaughn, Don Tanner, Wesley Triplett, Barry Taylor, Austin Fields, and Ivan Nieves.
