Mr. Billy Thompson, 65, of Nunez died Friday morning, February 24, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Thompson was born in Covena and a life long residence of Emanuel County. He was preceded in death by his parents Guyton Thompson and Callie Wilkes Thompson; brother, Guyton Thompson, Jr.; sisters, Helen Paris and Clyde Canady; grandson, Joshua Gage Hackle.
Mr. Thompson was a member of Nunez Baptist Church. He was self employed for 40 years as a contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Gail P. Thompson of Nunez; sons, Keith “Penny” Thompson of Grayson, Tim “Jennifer” Thompson of Swainsboro; daughter, Heather “Josh” Hackle of Lyons; brother, Hubert “Dorothy” Thompson of Nunez; sisters, Sara Ellen “Tommy” Durden of Warrenville, SC, Dessie Hostilo of Savannah, Marveline “William” Younker and Sara Love both of Pooler, Evelyn “James” Beckham of Wrightsville; 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Sunday, afternoon February 26, 2012 with Reverends Bunny Hudson and Arthur Conley officiating. Burial will be in the Eastbrook Cemetery near Swainsboro.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday February 25, 2012 at Chapman Funeral Home,
Pallbearers will be Lynn Thompson, Ricky Thompson, Brian Beckham, Mark Canady, Jamie Canady, Richard Durden.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jamie Kirby, Larry Hooks, Greg Odom, Chris Canady.
