Bonita W. Colston

February 16, 1919 — January 2, 2013

Mrs. Bonita Windham Colston, 93, of Kite died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Emanuel Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Colston was born in Kite GA and a life long residence of Johnson County.  She retired as Magistrate Court Judge of Johnson County in 2000.  Mrs. Colston was one of the founding members of the Kite Founders Day and the Kite Gym Committee.  In 2002 Mrs. Colston was named Johnson County Senior Citizen of the Year. She was a member of the Kite Homemakers Club, Johnson County Senior Center and a member of Rehoboth Missionary Baptist Church.  Mrs. Colston was an avid quilt and crafts maker and prepared income tax returns for years.

Mrs. Colston was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Zelle Claxton Windham; husband, James Morgan Colston; sons, J.B. Colston, Jerrold Colston and Freddie Colston; Daughters, Betty Colston and Shirley Colston Hutchinson; sister, Mary Ford; and great grandson, Jerry Alan McAllister

Survivors include her sons, Johnny (Patsy) Colston and Sammy (Lorraine) Colston both of Kite, Joe (Doris) Colston of Bartow; daughters, Peggy (Bill) Day and Janelle (Joe) Langley both of Kite; brothers, Fred (Odell) Windham of Macon and Don (Ann) Windham of Everette WA; sisters, Loach Schwendeman of Barefoot Bay FL and Jean Ball of Indianapolis IN; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Kite Church of God at 2 o’clock Saturday, January 5, 2013 with Reverends Allen Meeks and Arthur Conley officiating. Mrs. Colston will Lie in State one hour prior to service.  Burial will be in the Rehoboth Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday January 4, 2013 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Randy Colston, Brett Colston, Robbie Colston, David Hutchinson, Kyle Hutchinson, Tyler Colston, Ashley Colston, Blake Colston, Clint Thompson, Morgan Colston and Coty Colston
