Mrs. Brenda Kent Williford, 70, of Garfield passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. She was born May 12, 1955, in Swainsboro to Robert Clinton Kent and Ruth Johnson Kent. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bobby Kent; sister, Annette Wilson.
Born and raised in Garfield, Brenda was a beloved and vital part of her community. Known affectionately as “Aunt Brenda” or “Granny” by so many, she was the most trusted and reputable babysitter around. Countless families fondly say she “halfway raised” them, a testament to her kindness, patience, and loving nature. In 1971, Brenda married the love of her life, Edward Williford, and together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. In 1976, they welcomed their only child, a son, Brad, who quickly became her pride and joy. Her husband, son, and granddaughters were truly the light of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Brenda’s hobbies reflected her creative and joyful spirit. She loved arts and crafts, gardening, baking, cooking, antiquing, and jewelry. She also had a playful side, known for her love of pranks and jokes that kept everyone laughing. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family and many dear friends. A God-fearing woman, Brenda lived her faith through compassion and grace. She was known as one of the best women in our little town—always smiling, never speaking ill of anyone, and always ready to help. Her heart was truly the biggest around. She will forever be remembered for her wisdom, her warmth, and her favorite advice: “Always treat others how you want to be treated.” Brenda’s legacy of love and kindness will live on in the countless lives she touched. 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edward Williford of Garfield; son Brad Williford (Jill) of Garfield; granddaughters, Zade Anna Williford of East Dublin, Zaren Williford of Garfield; sister, Helen Harper (Wayne) of Garfield; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
