Charles Mershon Townsend

Mr. Charles Mershon Townsend, 94, of Kite passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, at his daughter’s residence in Kite.

Mr. Townsend was born in Kite to the late Charlie George Townsend and Emma Lederman Townsend.  He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Townsend was a member of the American Legion in Wrightsville and the Moose Lodge in Swainsboro.  His greatest joy was spending time fishing and swimming with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was a member of Kite Methodist Church

He is survived by his wife, Winifred Cox Townsend of Kite; son, Charles M. Townsend, II (Nina) of Statesboro; daughters Cindy Jarrard (Steve) of Kite, Marcia Robinson (Andy) of Wrightsville; sister, Doris Batts of Macon; 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and many friends.

Memorial Service will be private at a later date.
