Charles Edward Williford

Mr. Charles Edward Williford, 75, of Garfield, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, following an extended illness. Edward was born on March 16, 1951, in Albany to the late T. W. Williford, Jr. and Helen Harris Williford. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Brenda Williford; brothers, Ricky Williford and Scott Williford.

Edward was a simple man who found his greatest joys in the little things in life—family, friends, laughter, and time spent with the people he loved most. He never needed much to be happy, and those who knew him knew just how much the people in his life meant to him. As the oldest of eight siblings, he was more than just a big brother. He was someone his brothers and sisters could look up to, depend on, and share a lifetime of memories with. He loved each of them dearly and took great pride in being their big brother. 

At the center of his world was his wife, Brenda. She was the love of his life, and he spent his life devoted to her and their marriage. Through the years, he was always there to look after her, make sure she was taken care of, and stand faithfully by her side. Brenda was truly his whole world, and the love and devotion he had for her could be seen in the way he cared for her every day. He was also incredibly proud of his only son, Brad. Brad wasn’t just his son—he was his right-hand man, his partner, and his favorite person to spend time with. The two shared a special bond that went far beyond father and son. If you saw one, the other was never too far away, and the love and friendship between them was something truly special. Then came his two granddaughters, who brought out a whole new side of him. The man who may have once seemed tough became a big teddy bear when it came to his girls. They softened him in the very best way and held a special place in his heart. In his later years, being their Pa became one of his greatest joys, and there wasn’t much he wouldn’t do for them. 

One of the things people will remember most about him was his sense of humor. He loved telling jokes, cutting up, and doing whatever he could to make someone laugh. Seeing other people smile brought him joy, and his humor had a way of making even the most ordinary moments memorable. He also loved the things that made life a little more fun. He was a big racing fan and enjoyed cheering on the Atlanta Braves and his Georgia Bulldogs. Whether he was watching a race, pulling for his favorite team, spending time with family and friends, or simply sharing a good laugh, he knew how to appreciate the moment. Edward lived a simple life, but it was a life filled with so much love. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving Grandpa, an amazing big brother, and a true friend. He leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, stories, love, and memories that will continue to be shared for years to come. To know him was to know his humor, his loyalty, and most of all, the deep love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who were lucky enough to call him theirs.

Survivors include his son, Brad Williford (Jill) of Garfield; granddaughters, Zade Anna O’Neal (Matthew) of East Dublin, Zaren Williford of Garfield; brother, Donnie Williford (Myra) of Kite; sisters, Ellen Wilkerson of Midville, Cathy Flanders (Glen) of Dellwood, Patsy Sherrod (J.C.) of Millen, Joan Foskey (Cleve) of Guyton; sister-in-law, Mary Williford of Twin City; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend John Durden officiating.

Interment will be in Hebron Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to services.

Pallbearers are Chris Flanders, Michael Womack, Casey Williford, Cameron Williford, Aaron Williford, Brian Foskey and Wayne Foskey.
