Charles "Chuck" E. Canady

Mr. Charles E. “Chuck” Canady, 70, of Twin City, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025, at MCG in Augusta, following a brief illness.

Mr. Chuck was born January 29, 1955, to James E. Canady and Mary Virginia Newton. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; son-in-law, Chris Phillips; brother-in-law, Keith Claxton. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Chuck provided forty-five years of service to Swainsboro Supply Company.

We gather with heavy hearts to honor and remember the life of Chuck Canady— lovingly known to many as Chuckie. His passing was unexpected, and the loss is profound. But so is the love, the respect, and the admiration we all carry for him.

Chuck was many things to many people: a devoted father to his son, Derrick, and his daughter, Jamie. A proud grandfather to Lanie and Riley. And a loyal partner and best friend to his longtime girlfriend, Sara. His family was everything to him- his pride, his purpose, and his peace.

Chuck was a protector. Not just in words, but in the quiet, unwavering way he lived. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened—because his words were filled with wisdom, truth, and intention. He didn’t sugarcoat the truth to spare your feelings—he cared more about protecting your best interest. That’s who he was. Strong, grounded, and deeply honest.

He was a man of integrity. Morally sound, steady, and genuine. Chuck believed in hard work. He believed in doing what’s right, even when no one was watching. He lived by his word—and if he gave it to you, you could trust it without question.

Chuckie, while a bit of a tough guy- had the most kind and giving heart. There was a quiet warmth behind his strength and a sharp wit behind his steady eyes. Chuck was a gifted craftsman. He had a natural talent for building things—whether it was with wood, metal, or his bare hands, he could bring an idea to life with incredible skill and care. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix or create. His craftsmanship wasn’t just a talent—it was a reflection of his patience, his precision, and his pride in doing things the right way.

He loved his Harley. He loved the golf course. But more than anything, he loved the simple moments with the people he cherished most.

He gave his best to his children and his grandchildren. He showed Derrick and Jamie not just how to live—but how to live with character, with strength, and with purpose. He poured love into Lanie and Riley, and they will grow up knowing that their grandfather was a man worth admiring.

Chuck didn’t need recognition or praise. His presence alone spoke volumes. And that presence—steady, strong, and true—will be missed more than words can express.

Though he may no longer be here in the way we wish, Chuck leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, loyalty, and wisdom. It lives on in Derrick, Jamie, Lanie, Riley, in Sara—and in everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

Rest easy, Chuckie. You were deeply loved, and you always will be.

He is survived by his devoted life partner of 24 years, Sara Jackson of Swainsboro; daughter, Jamie Phillips (Scott Warnock) of Swainsboro; son, Derrick Canady (Rachael Wheeler) of Gray; sister, Kathy Claxton of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Riley Tucker Yates Phillips, Lanie Blair Phillips; nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral home at 11:00 A.M., officiated by Reverend Phil Wilson.

Interment will follow at Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, May 23, 2025, at Chapman Funeral Home.

The Pallbearers will be Albert Hall, Cleve Edenfield, Terry Edenfield, Randall Snellgrove, Charles Young, Mitch Proctor, and Dal Durden.

Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Swainsboro Supply Company.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas PL, Memphis, TN, 38105.
