Charlie "Cj" J Bedgood, Jr.

Mr. Charlie  J. “CJ.” Bedgood, Jr., 83, of Swainsboro passed away Monday, August 17, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Bedgood was born November 18, 1936 in Louisville, GA to the late Charlie Jordan Bedgood and Mattie Caraway Bedgood.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Verlyn Bedgood, Lynwood Bedgood, Willie Bedgood; sisters, Bessie Bedgood, Madge Slater, Joyce Thurman, grandson, Benton Canady.  Mr. Bedgood was owner and operator of his trucking business; he also drove for Walmart Distribution for over 18 years and completed his working career as delivery driver for Shop Rite Pharmacy.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys, watching NASCAR, but mostly spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Florence Bedgood of Swainsboro; daughters, Barbara (Ricky) Ely, Regina (Larry) Canady; son, David (Angie) Bedgood; grandchildren, Ricky (Malia) Ely, April (Vince) Scott, Adam (Lindsay) Ely, Mac (Caroline) Canady, Corey (Cassidy) Canady, Josh (Andrea) Bedgood, West (Lauren) Bedgood; great-grandchildren, Colby Scott, Jaycee Scott, Ace Ely, Emily Ely, Kaleigh Ely, Maddison Ely, Zada Ely, Bristol Ely, Layla Ely, Elias Bedgood, Cannon Bedgood, Easton Bedgood, Josh Bedgood, Jaxson Bedgood, Kayla Crabb, Rhet Crabb, Ethan Bedgood, Tee Bedgood, Harper Canady, Logan Fleming; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Graveside Service will be Thursday, August 20, 2020, 5:00 p.m. at Swainsboro City Cemetery with Pastors Jonathan Shepard and Joe Bedgood officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons.

In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during viewing and service.
