Chris "Boop" Newsome

Mr. Chris “Boop” Newsome, 48, of Swainsboro passed away Friday, October 4, 2019 at his residence following a brief illness.

Mr. Newsome was born February 6, 1971 in Swainsboro to the late R. W. Newsome and Wanda Taylor Newsome.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lynette Newsome.  Chris was a member of the Swainsboro Jaycees for many years and served in various capacities including Vice President, Director, Treasurer, and Secretary. He also was a past President of the Miss Emanuel County and Miss Southeast Georgia Pageant Board and also served as President of the Southeast Georgia Jaycee Fair Board. Chirs was also a past Chairman of the Kevin Hutcheson Memorial Golf Tournament of which he remained actively involved in. Chris was an avid Georgia Bulldog, Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons fan.  Chris was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his daughter, Carrie Newsome of Swainsboro; friend and caregiver, Tara Newsome of Swainsboro; brother, Ronnie (Teresa) Newsome of Swainsboro; caregivers, Patsy Kersey and Jean Henry, both of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

Funeral Services will be Monday, October 7, 2019, 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Brad McKenzie officiating.

Interment will follow in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Family will receive friends Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Dennis Key, William Richards, Kevin Patrick, Tripp Wommack, Todd Durden, Michael English and Brian Key.

Honorary pallbearers are Swainsboro Jaycees and SHS Class of 1989.
