Cynthia Cayenne Steptoe

June 18, 1993 — April 28, 2025

Wrightsville

Ms. Cynthia Cayenne Steptoe, 31, of Wrightsville, passed away April 28, 2025, at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born on June 18, 1993, in Vidalia, to Timothy Steptoe and Velina Beasley Meeks. She is preceded in death by son, Ricky Capus Johnson, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Herman and Velma Beasley; paternal grandparents, Harold and Dorothy Steptoe; step-grandmother, Lesa Tidmore.

Cynthia could walk into any room and immediately make everyone feel like family. She never met a stranger that didn’t see her loving smile. Cynthia’s favorite occupational role was a Full-Time Mommy. As a dedicated mother, she was completely committed and determined to give her son Cayden the best care she could. She loved giving him big squeezes. She saw no accomplishment that he made as “small”, she was always proud of him in the biggest ways.

Another huge role that she carried with pride was “Big Sis”, and in true big sister fashion, she was a BIG inspiration to all of her siblings. She taught them to always approach the world with a tender heart and a kind eye. Even if everyone around her told her the world was cruel, it was almost like she defied the truth and brought it closer to kindness every day that she could. She worried about the families of complete strangers. She worried over every wreck, every passing, and every birth that she saw on Facebook or other media sources. She was a mother hen at its finest. Her siblings carry that same kindness with them, because it was a gift she gave so freely.

Some of her favorite past-times when not being the whole world to those closet to her was; candle making, photography, and fishing. She loved taking photos of nature, loved ones, and of course, Cayden. She made incredible candles that brought a touch of warmth and love to everyone she gave one too. It was as if she was giving them a little physical piece of her beautiful soul to cherish and enjoy in their home. As a proper southern woman, of course, she loved fishing. It gave her immense levels of peace to sit next to the water with a line, waiting for the perfect bite to come along.

One of her favorites of God’s creations were roses and butterflies. Her favorite butterflies were the brilliant blue butterfly with a black border along its wings. She loved roses of all varieties and colors. Her siblings would say, “She made the best peanut butter cookies.” They commented that they were always so warm and soft, just like the love that she gave to them, her son, and her friends and family. She will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. Anytime you see a blue butterfly visiting, remember her and smile. She would like to know you stopped a moment to admire it, even with a somber heart knowing that she would have loved a photo of it.

She is survived by her parents, Velina Meeks (Damien) of Elberton, Timothy Steptoe (Lisa) of Millen; son, Cayden Bledsoe of Wrightsville; step-father, Brian Clements (Angel) of Lyons; siblings, Devan Steptoe (Christian) of Swainsboro, Delilah Clements, Sophyra Clements, both of Elberton, Levi Clements of Soperton, Leland Shedlowski, Kaleb Austell both of Lyons, Kristen Clements of Soperton, Katelyn Johnson of Millen; fiancé, Ricky Johnson of Wrightsville; best friend, Danielle Willis of Wrightsville; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
