Mrs. Danita Lynn Johnson, 52, of Garfield, passed away at her residence on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
She was born in Sweet Home, Oregon in 1972 to the late John Odas “Odell” and Irene P. Fortner. Danita was the dietician for Twin View Health and Rehab until her passing. She had attended Johns Creek Baptist Church where she was baptized her in youth.
She will be remembered for her love of life and her compassion towards her friends, family, and the many furry friends who she rescued over the years. She was known for always taking care of stray or wounded cats in the Garfield area. She adored nature and loved planting and tending to her garden. She had a deep devotion to all animals, if someone or some pet was in need of help she was always there. But most of all she loved her daughter, Amy, spending time and bonding over new and old hobbies like jewelry making.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Daniel Kevin Fortner.
She is survived by daughter, Amy Johnson, of Garfield, her siblings, Johnny Fortner, Julie F. Bradley, and Darlene Fortner, all of Sylva, NC, and Timothy Fortner of Mountain Rest, SC, her companion, Bobby Daw of Garfield, several nieces and nephews, and her former husband, Richard Johnson of Garfield.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 11:00am at the Hebron Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Tidwell officiating.
