David Larry Shannon, 63
David Larry Shannon, went to be with our Heavenly father, November 3rd, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina to the late George and Julia Shannon, May 12, 1952. He graduated in 1970 from Dentsville High School in Columbia before joining the Army and being stationed in Key West Florida.  From there he moved back to Columbia where he started working in car insurance industry which lead to him owning his own business, D&D Appraisal, then moving to Horace Mann from which he retired in September of 2014.
Family and friends were David’s passion and delight. He was known to many as “Pop” both professionally and personally. He took joy in working outside in his garden, tending to his animals and teaching “the younger generation” the right way to do things. He is known for his hospitality as he never met a stranger, his Southern charm and famous strawberry syrup.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his children Amy (Chris) Netherton, Brad (Kim) Shannon, Katie (Larry) Fowler, Thomas (Mary Beth) Smith; siblings Robert Shannon, Debbie Styles (Steve), Kathy Kaczmarczyk (Dave), Jerry Shannon (Kathy), Roy Shannon, Bernice Pruitt; grandchildren Timothy Shannon, Alexandra and Lilianna Smith, Sam and Eli Fowler and Kael Shannon; extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Lynn R Shannon, his father George Shannon, mother Julia Shannon, sister Linda Davis and brothers George and Ricky Shannon.
Memorial services will be held Sunday afternoon, November 8th, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Round Hill Baptist Church, 230 Persimmon Lane, Lexington, SC. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family immediately following the service.
